DEMOLITION DERBY - VEHICLE SPECIFICATIONS

All vehicles must be in standard condition except for modifications allowed in these specifications.

1 a. Volvo – 4 cylinder allowed in 6 cylinder Demolition Derby

b. No full chassis cars, V6 or V8's allowed.

2 a. All external chrome work and protruding objects must be removed.

b. All glass must be removed, NOT broken in.

c. All interior linings and handles must be removed.

d. All cars must be cleaned out (no loose objects)

3 a. All doors must be secured by standard chains of 6mm or 8 mm thickness (no wire or door lock mechanisms only)

b. The drivers door and off-side passengers (the door behind the driver) door are to be seam or stitch welded.

c. A metal plate may be bolted to the outer skin of the driver's door, fixed by locking nuts. The head of the bolt is to be on the inside and the bolt must be cut off at the end of the locking nut, OR A 1/4” (6mm) metal plate may be slid down the window channel of the driver’s door only. The plate is not to be protruding past the height of the door skin.

d. Window net or mesh on drivers window is highly recommended.

e. No bolting, welding or strengthening of any bonnet, boot lid, mudguard, bumper bar or seam.

f. Mudguards and wheel arches are not to be cut away

g. Tractor tyres are not permitted

h. Tow bars are allowed but the goosenecks are to be removed.

4 a. No engine modifications allowed.

b. Engine and gearbox mounts may be welded.

5 a. Battery may be relocated to the cabin or boot area and must be securely fastened to the floor and covered with rubber matting. No truck batteries. Maximum N70

b. Two batteries may be used.

6 a. Radiators must be the original type and in the original position.

b. Fan blades may be removed.

c. No additional header tanks, radiators or top-up bottles.

7 a. Fuel tank may be relocated to the centre of the back floor and securely mounted.

b. If the original tank is not used the alternative tank must be of a professional construction or of an approved type (steel jerry cans are acceptable).

c. No plastic bottles permitted.

d. If the original tank is not used it is to be drained and a large hole punched in the bottom.

8 a. Drivers seat must be reinforced by brace bar bolted between the door pillars behind the seat. One bar from pillar to pillar (centre pillars) may be used. Plates not less than 100mm x 100mm are to be welded on each end and bolted to pillars (not welded) by at least two (2) bolts each side through pillars and plates. Bolts must be no less than 6mm thick and bolted from outside inwards.

9 a. Approved seat belts must be fitted to the vehicle. ie. lap sash or four point harness.

b. No other types of seat belt are acceptable. Neck brace recommended.

10 a. Car numbers must be in large lettering on both sides of the vehicle.

b. The drivers door must be painted in red with a large white cross.

c. All sign writing will be inspected, any signwriting deemed to be in bad taste by the officials must be removed.

11 a. All vehicles must be fitted with a white flag no smaller than 300mm x 300mm attached to a piece of 6mm dowel so that the bottom of the flag is no lower than 300mm above the roofline of the vehicle.

b. The dowel is to be attached with tape to the front right pillar within reach of the driver.

c. The driver is to break the flag off as soon as their vehicle is immobilised, indicating that the vehicle is no longer in the event and no longer a target.

12 a. Brakes must be in original working order. No modifications allowed.
